Ballet dancer and choreographer. Born Harcourt Algernon Essex in London. Joined Anna Pavlova's dance company in 1921. Toured Australia in 1926 and 1929 with Anna Pavlova and in 1938-40 with the Ballets Russes. Returned to Australia in 1953 where he worked with the Australian Children's Theatre, Borovansky Ballet, Australian Ballet and North West Victoria Ballet Society.
